How I get up at 4am and workout

What time of day do you prefer to workout? In the ideal world, I would workout about 2 hours after breakfast. That gives me the best time digestion and energy wise to feel fueled and ready for the gym. However, that isn’t possible while teaching, so I get up at the ass crack of dawn to get it done.

It hasn’t always been like that and if you don’t need to workout at 4am, I don’t suggest it lol. I’m just someone that does not like to do it after school because I will never make it there because I get so exhausted after teaching. But if you can, all the more power to ya!

One of the biggest things is getting enough sleep in. You cannot expect to wake up at 4 if you’re going to bed at 11. Your body needs at least 7 hours of sleep each night. I legit go to bed at 8:30-9 at night and if I didn’t, I would be a zombie walking around the place. You can slowly push back your bed time and alarm clock in the morning to ease this. You will struggle if you go from going to bed at 11 to 9 right away!

Another thing that helped me get up in the morning is having everything packed and set out. I put my gym clothes and headphones out, my coffee is ready to go, and I have a game plan for what I’m doing in the gym. There is nothing worse than walking around a gym trying to piece together a workout the morning of. Get a plan or a coach and go in with the intent to lift heavy!

Lastly, I hate eating right away in the morning, so I will always eat a snack before I go to bed the night before. During my workout, I’m able to focus on my lift and not on my growling stomach. If you do like to eat before you lift I would just go with something easy digesting: protein powder with rice cakes is an easy one!

Other tips: Get up at your first alarm – put your phone on the opposite side of the room if you need to. Get a workout buddy if you need one. Wash your face to wake you up!

What are your best tips if you’re an early riser like me?
