I have a very strict morning routine and if I don’t get to do it, it actually ruins my whole day. I am in love with my mornings, they are my favorite part of my day. Even once I get to school it just puts me in such a good mood to show up for my students every day!
I fully believe that girls with morning routines are happier, healthier, and more content with their life. I know I for sure am.
The beginning of the year I was waking up at 3:30 in the morning to workout and while I loved getting my workouts in early and being done for the rest of the day I noticed that I really missed my reading and journaling. I wish I had time to do both before school but that’s just not possible.
Mostly because I get too invested in my books and want to read for 45 minutes.
However, I started working out after school or in the evenings and I’ve really been enjoying my slower mornings.
Right now this is how my routine is before school.
4:15 – wake up, drink a glass of water, make my coffee. Then I sit on the couch and drink my coffee while I read my fun book. Currently I’m reading Girl In the Wall and I am obsessed with it. It has been on my list for a long time and I’m just getting around to it and wow. If you like crime / thriller / suspense novels this is a good one!
5:00 – Journal. I don’t overcomplicate it. I write down 3 faith goals, 1 monthly goal, 3 affirmations, then I write down my top 3 three for the day. These are things that I need to get done before I go to sleep and try to create streaks with how long I can go with crossing off those 3 each day.
5:10 – Read my daily devotional, pray/meditate/visualize (depends on what I’m feeling and needing that day). If I had any epiphanies or wanted to write stuff down after that like a typical journal entry would look I do that afterwards.
Okay, so after all that it is usually around 5:30 and it’s time to get ready for school.
Nothing complicated : make up, hair, get dressed, grab/make my breakfast and lunch. Sometimes I need to pack extra stuff for the gym or meetings after school and I do that then. I make a smoothie for myself and one for Cody when he gets up. Grab all my things and head to school.
I get to school about half an hour before my students start to arrive.
6:45 – Turn on all my lights / smart board / projector / doc camera & open my computer.
If I have done what I needed to after school the day before I should already have my morning meeting slides ready so I put those up (sometimes I need to write it the day of though oops).
Honestly I usually take pictures or film some content for TikTok or Instagram before school and people get there lol.
Then I just start knocking out any e-mails that came through the night before. I refuse to work at home after hours so I usually have a few things to catch up on. By that time I am needing to finalize looking over lesson plans for the day, getting assignments posted on Schoology or have printed out.
Then the kids start rolling in and I wait outside my door to greet everyone. I love how even kids from other classes and grades say good morning to me every morning, it’s my favorite. Something so small as smiling at the kids as they walk into school can make their day!
