To be honest, last year was really hard for me at school. I had a tough class but I adored them. They had a lot of behaviors but their personalities kept it fun and exciting. I will forever cherish that class. But it took a lot out of me mentally each day to keep going. There were some other things going on at school that I don’t need to get into on here but it added to the stress of the year.

I didn’t know if I was going to go back to the classroom this year because I honestly had no idea if it was worth it for my mental health. But this year I decided was the year I bring the fun back in the classroom.

I got into horrible habits last year of dreading coming into school. Feeling bad when I left school. Being drained by lunch time. I didn’t want to do it all.

This year we are only a couple weeks in and it is a whole different ball game. I am happier, livelier, enjoying coming in each day and 90% of that is because I have told myself that I will be.

I can’t remember who says the famous quote but it goes something like ‘whether you say you can or you say you can’t, you’re right’. We hear things like this all the time and it’s easy to think about tangible things such as ‘believe you will get the raise’ but a lot harder when it’s ‘believe you can be happy’.

But why is that? Why do we find it so difficult to trust ourselves that we can change our mindset by thinking it?

I’m reading the book, the Law of Attraction right now and it has a ton of valuable information in it and it’s a short book too which helps, but it talks about this a lot in there ; our mindset around our goals 100% affects whether we achieve it or not.

So I’m not letting anything get by me this year. Even on the tough days, the days that I don’t want to be at school, or there are things that happen that make it tough, I am not going to let that kill my mood.

Every day when I wake up is a great day to put on my teacher hat, and my coaching hat.

Every day I walk in the building, I have the power to change someones day.

Every day I go to the gym is another workout closer to my goals.

Whatever your goal is, or however you want to feel, start believing it to be true.

Write it down in your journal in the morning what the goal is.

Remind yourself often how you want to show up. How you want to be remembered. How you want to leave other people.

Because it’s in your hands. It is up to you.

Nobody can take that away from you.

That doesn’t mean it’s going to be sunshine and rainbows every day, but it will be significantly different if you walk around believing it to be true.
